You will now be provided with instruction on the use of each instrument via a series of narrated Flash animations. Feel free to pause, rewind, stop and play the following content as required, as the subject matter can be quite tricky to get a grasp on the first time round.
At the end of each animation you are provided an opportunity to practise your skills via interaction with simulated/animated versions of each instrument. Example data is provided for you to practice with. You may replay the animations and practice with the interactive instruments as much as you desire and remember to use the Operations of instruments discussion forum (tab at the top of the screen) if you have any queires.

    ...
The success of a recent prescribed burn and the safety of the local community and firefighting personnel involved was seriously compromised as a result of the brigade not having enough members skilled in the use of a variety of Wildfire Prediction Tools. Wildfire Prediction Tools are used to obtain vital information upon which fire management tactics are based and the more frequently and accurately this data is obtained the better the chances are of achieving safe and successful firefighting and prescribed burn outcomes.
Your brigade needs your help and skills. It is in the interest of your brigade to have as many members skilled in the use of these instruments as on the fireground measurements are required frequently from a variety of locations throughout the site. You can make a valuable contribution to your brigade and your community by developing your skill in the use of these instruments. In doing so you will also confirm and strengthen your existing knowledge of wildfire behaviour and fireground safety.

Referencing the information you have just obtained and recorded on your Wildfire Information Worksheet you are now required to develop a burn plan with your team members. In this plan you will outline the tactics you would implement to achieve a successful burn outcome along your sector. (You will need to refer to other sectors in so far as determining lighting sequences and the overall burn objective). Your tactics must strongly relate to the weather and site information you have obtained and the influence this may have on fire behaviour.
