You will now visit the actual site that we have referenced throughout this Learning Activity: Conservation Park, 302 Redland Bay Road, Alexandra Hills, Qld.
On arrival (with your First Officer and participating brigade members); the following will happen:
You will walk around the perimeter of the entire site taking note of site characteristics.
The group will be divided into teams of six.
Your team will be allocated a Fire Weather Kit, Forest Danger Meter, Fine Fuel Moisture Meter.
Your team will be designated a section of the perimeter (sector AB, BC or CA).
You and your team members must obtain weather data and site information within your sector using the instruments provided and record this information on a Wildfire Information Worksheet.
All Instruments and the worksheet must be rotated within your team.
Each team member must communicate to the group their measurements at the moment they are obtain so they can be recorded on the worksheet. (This provides an opportunity to compare your readings with other team members and determine whether you are using the instruments correctly).
